Clear Channel Broadcasting Inc. Chooses Ai's Analog/Digital Water-Cooled e2v ESCIOT Powered Quantum Transmitter for WPMI-TV Ch15.


COCKEYSVILLE, Md. -- Acrodyne Industries, Inc. (Ai), a leading manufacturer of television broadcast transmission equipment, today announced that Clear Channel Broadcasting Inc. has selected Ai's Depressed Collector Quantum(R) transmitter using the e2v ESCIOT(R) water-cooled tubes for the analog application at WPMI-TV (NBC NBC

Ai's Quantum transmitters represent the state of the art in UHF (Ultra High Frequency) The range of electromagnetic frequencies from 300 MHz to 3 GHz. In the U.S., analog television has used UHF channels 52 to 69 in the 700 MHz band.  transmission. The Quantum series of transmitters, using the water-cooled e2v ESCIOT are designed to efficiently operate in either digital or analog service and are field convertible. Equivalent energy savings are available in either mode of operation. Using water-cooling and collector depression, Quantum transmitters provide a very high level of energy efficiency and reliability, which continues to be proven at an increasing number of field installations. The power usage at WPMI-TV will be reduced by over $110,000.00 a year compared to the original Klystron transmitter.
