Clean-up team on gold run.


TALENTED Moseley folk are celebrating after winning a gold award for their efforts to clean up the area.

The Moseley in Bloom team received a gold award for the second year running at the Heart of England in Bloom Awards.

The team was also judged overall winner in the Urban Communities category at a ceremony at Pershore Abbey and will go forward to represent the region in the national finals of Britain in Bloom Britain in Bloom is a horticultural competition in the United Kingdom. It was first held in 1963; it has been organised by the Royal Horticultural Society since 2002 and is currently sponsored by Shredded Wheat.  next year.

In addition to the accolade, it received a special Certificate of Merit award for its makeover of the derelict Bristol Street motors showroom.

For more than six months, a fleet of volunteers have been hard at work giving the vandal magnet eyesore eye·sore

 Makeover has been a great success and the runner beans we planted among the flowers, to maximise the foliage growing up the security mesh, have yielded a bumper crop of beans.

"We picked 10lbs recently and handed them out to pleasantly surprised passers-by.

"Lots of local people stopped to tell us what a good job we had done and what a pleasure it has been during the summer.

"There are rumours about satisfied scrumpers dropping by to pick their own'.

Jan Miller, chairwoman of MIB, said: "It's been a team effort, several people have put in a lot of hard work and so has the community."
