Clean-up team is streets ahead; DUDLEY.THE streets of Dudley Dudley, city (1991 pop. 186,513) and metropolitan district, W central England. Dudley's famed iron, coal, and limestone industries began declining c.1870. Other industries include engineering works, steelworks, metallurgy, glass cutting, textiles, and leatherworking. have been declared the cleanest in the country by a national organisation. Dudley Council's street cleaning team has been named the best performing, offering the best value to taxpayers in the country, by a national awards body. The team, which sweeps roads, cleans up graffiti and helps remove fly-tipping, received the accolade in the Association of Public Service Excellence awards. The top spot follows on from the team being named in the top four for the last two years and highlights improvements made by the council in keeping the borough tidy. Coun Angus Adams, cabinet member for transportation, said: "This is absolutely fantastic news and we are all very proud to have received this honour Honour or honor (see spelling differences), is the evaluation of a person’s trustworthiness and social status based on that individual's espousals and actions. . "We know there are always improvements that can be made but what this award does show without doubt is that the residents of Dudley are receiving a superior service to many others across the country.
