This season's new S/S S/S Signs & Sx S/S Staples & sutures 09 collection is inspired by the sophisticated luxury of fashion designer Claire McCardell and the evocative photography of Lillian Bassman, both American artists at the height of their powers in the 1940s and 1950s. Blending deluxe materials with simple, classic shapes, together they created a look that epitomised discreet elegance; casual in cashmere, slub satin and milky white pearls. This simplicity and clean cutting have become the hallmark of New York fashion. Their discreet colours and deceptively minimalist shapes are the creative touchstone for the new collection of versatile haircuts and colours by the Sassoon International creative team. Drawing on this world of understated luxury, Sassoon International creative director Mark Hayes has designed a collection that is feminine and contemporary. Today Calvin Klein and Donna Karan showcase designs in which shape, colour and texture work as one organic whole.
