Eric Gerstenberg, Vice President of Disposal Services said, "Clean Harbors is pleased to announce that our Kimball, Nebraska incinerator has successfully demonstrated compliance with the new stringent EPA EPA eicosapentaenoic acid.

) standards for dioxins/furans. These standards, which were imposed by the EPA on September 30, 1999, impose tighter limits on hazardous air pollutant emissions from all hazardous waste incinerators and cement kilns. All incinerators and cement kilns affected by this rule will have to be in compliance with the MACT control requirements by September 30, 2002 to remain permitted and able to continue burning hazardous waste."

The Clean Harbors Kimball incinerator has had one of the most rigorous pre-MACT air emissions limits in the U.S. During the most recent emissions tests, Clean Harbors recorded average test results that were about ten times lower than the newly imposed MACT standard of 0.40 Ng/DSCM at 7% O2 for Dioxins. Clean Harbors is extremely pleased with its most recent test results and to be recognized as a leader in the incineration industry. These results are also significant because the facility is currently burning a record volume of waste and has considerably broadened the types of wastes it can accept and process.

Mr. Gerstenberg added, "The Company would like to re-affirm that it is in full compliance with its Part B financial assurance closure plans at all its facilities. Frontier Insurance Company had provided a surety bond surety bond

for the majority of our facilities. However, Frontier was removed from the Department of Treasury's listing of approved sureties on May 31st of this year. This action required many companies throughout the industry to replace their Frontier bonds or face being in non-compliance with Federal and state closure requirements. Clean Harbors promptly replaced the bonds with insurance policies from an A+ rated carrier and remained in full compliance at all times with these regulations."

Clean Harbors, Inc., is a national environmental services corporation providing a wide range of industrial waste management and environmental clean-up services to a diversified customer base including a majority of the Fortune 500 companies and numerous Federal, state and local government agencies and thousands of smaller entities.
