Clean Air Partners Launches Initiative to Further Develop Global Markets with its Innovative Emission Reduction Solutions.

Business Editors

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 1, 2003

Clean Air Partners, a leader in advanced emissions reduction technologies announced today that it has launched a strategic initiative to further penetrate global markets with its innovative emissions reduction solutions and services.

Once known primarily for its advanced research and development and as a regional supplier of engine components, today Clean Air Partners' fuel solutions are in use in over 1, 700 heavy-duty truck and power generation diesel engines operating around the world in various applications. Passing stringent emissions tests in California, the U.K., and Japan, Clean Air Partners' patented Dual-Fuel(TM) technology is quickly becoming the preferred choice for reducing emissions as environmental agencies in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and abroad demand ever-stricter regulations.

Clean Air Partners' Dual-Fuel technology enables medium- and heavy-duty diesel generator A diesel generator is the combination of a diesel engine with an electrical generator (often called an alternator) to generate electric energy.

The modified Dual-Fuel engine produces equivalent horsepower, but generates substantially less nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulates than an engine burning only diesel fuel. One of the unique features of the Dual-Fuel engine is its emergency diesel fallback fall·back

element that allows the engine to function on diesel fuel alone in situations where natural gas is unavailable.

In countries where economics rather than emission standards are motivators to convert stationary generator engines to dual fuel, Clean Air Partners' new FuelSolution(TM) can substitute up to 80 percent natural gas for diesel fuel, providing economic benefits in markets where natural gas costs are lower than diesel fuel. In addition to producing entire Dual-Fuel systems, Clean Air Partners' manufactures engine sub-components that enable some of the world's largest automotive and truck engine manufacturers to build low-emission vehicles. Clean Air Partners also recently expanded its product portfolio to include after treatment solutions for the power generation market.

As part of its global initiative, Clean Air Partners is forming an alliance with Nippon Ecology Work System Corporation (ECOS ECOS Environmental Council of States

ECOS European Environmental Citizens' Organisation for Standardisation
ECOS Commission for Economic and Social Policy

) of Osaka, Japan. This new alliance will mark the introduction of the first heavy-duty truck engine in Japan equipped with Clean Air Partners' Dual-Fuel technology. Additionally, Clean Air Partners formed a joint venture to bring a new standard of low emission vehicles to the U.K. market. It was for this joint venture that Clean Air Partners certified the first heavy-duty engine to meet the strict Euro IV emissions standard, which will help to open up the U.K. and European market for the company's patented Dual-Fuel systems.

"We are very pleased with the growth and market acceptance of our emissions reduction solutions," stated Dan Kabel, Clean Air Partners' president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . We are evolving into a global enterprise by listening to our customers and partners to develop the right solutions for the marketplace both here in the U.S. and abroad. Our plans to address worldwide standards will enable our Dual-Fuel technology to become the 'solution of choice' for emissions reduction in mobile and stationary diesel engines. Passing the demanding vehicle emissions tests to meet the California, European and Japanese government standards is a true testament to our solutions."

Recent accomplishments in the United States include working with United Parcel Service United Parcel Service, Inc. Incorporating Clean Air Partners' unique technology, UPS is the first package delivery firm to utilize liquid natural gas (LNG LNG (liquefied natural gas): see under natural gas. ) as a fuel source for its delivery vehicles. By upgrading their diesel truck engines with Clean Air Partners' Dual-Fuel technology, UPS is reducing each truck's emissions by over 40 percent -- significantly surpassing California Air Resources Board California Air Resources Board (CARB) is the "clean air agency" of the state of California in the United States. Clean Air Partners has recently broadened its scope to include a wider range of diesel and natural gas emissions reduction technologies for distributed power generation applications. In January 2003, the company commissioned its first commercial Dual-Fuel power generation system at a hospital that will rely on the equipment to provide emergency backup with reduced emissions from a Caterpillar 3516B engine generator.
