Clausing Buys Fabricating Line.

The assets of the "Metal Muncher" line of hydraulic punch presses and metal-fabrication equipment have been sold by Center Engineering, Inc. (Clay Center, Kans.) to southern-Michigan-based Clausing Industrial, Inc., a member of The 600 Group P.L.C. (Leeds, England). The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

Metal Muncher products--4000 have been produced since 1969--will continue to be manufactured by an independent contractor in Kansas; marketing will move to Clausing's Kalamazoo headquarters; and after-sales service and support will be transferred to the new owner's service center in Goshen, Ind. Clausing already offers shears and brakes.

Addition of a line of presses brings Clausing full circle, observes its president William Nancarrow. Clausing started out in 1911 as Atlas Press Co.
