Claudia Suteu: Romania: many talents.


Claudia Suteu is a 14-year-old artist, who lives in the historic town of Brasov in central Romania. The 750-year old city impresses with its cultural heritage and natural beauty.

When Claudia looks out her window on the seventh floor she sees old buildings and green mountains Green Mountains, range of the Appalachian Mts., extending 250 mi (402 km) from north to south and extending from S Que., Canada to Vt. While the mountains offer plenty of outdoor activities, for example hiking hiking

Claudia is a young artist full of energy and ambition. She expresses her concerns and compassion compassion,
n a profound awareness of another's suffering coupled with a desire to alleviate that suffering.
 for the world through her art: paintings, essays and most of all music. Claudia's love for music began when her parents gave her an electric organ at age six. She fell in love with the piano right away and soon won her first competition.

Claudia practices between three to five hours on weekdays and even longer on the weekends.

Shortly after Claudia found her love for music she discovered a passion for painting. The young artist received her first award for drawing in June of 1999 and just two month later she had her first solo-exhibition in a library. Claudia also illustrated a book, which she wrote.

She won many music competitions, including the Romanian Piano Olympiad, received honours for her achievements in school, took part in ICAF's Second Arts Olympiad, won the national competition in Romania, and represented her home country at ICAF's Festival in Washington D.C. in 2003. During her visit to the US capital Claudia not only enjoyed workshops with the other Arts Olympiad finalists, she also played a concert at a big hotel and read one of her essays on stage. In this essay, titled "World's Heart", Claudia expresses her grief for the tragedy of September 11, 2001.

Shortly after returning to Brasov the artist launched her first CD, called "World Songs." Embracing the idea of unity and understanding in the world, Claudia recorded songs in four languages. She speaks English, French, Japanese and her native language Romanian. Claudia puts a lot effort into advancing awareness and friendship between her home country and France and Japan. She took part in a series of workshops to learn more about Japanese culture and she joined the Alliance Francaise.
