STUDENTS at South Birmingham College South Birmingham College is an establishment of further education in Birmingham, England providing full-time and part-time courses for young students following their period of compulsory education (after age 16) and for adults. It was previously known as Hall Green College.  hit the catwalk to showcase their designs for a fashion competition.

 fashion and clothing students were challenged to create an outfit using materials sourced at Birmingham's Bull Ring Markets costing less than pounds 40 and to be sold in an imaginary designer fashion range called Rags to Riches at the city's Harvey Nichols Harvey Nichols ("Harvey Nicks"), founded in 1813, is an upmarket department store chain. Its original store is in London, England, but it expanded to Leeds, England, and later to more cities in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.  store.

Initially each student created three story boards which were judged by a panel of Harvey Nichols' personal shopping manager

Dawn Williamson, the Birmingham Mail's women's editor Diane Parkes, Lily & Ginger fashion trader Kenneth Grey and the college's assistant director for marketing Dawn Cockcroft.

They whittled down the entries to ten finalists who were all given two months to create and accessorise their ideas for the catwalk show.

Taking place at the college last week, the judging panel then chose a first prize winner who received pounds 160 worth of shopping vouchers, second prize winner who took home vouchers worth pounds 95 and a third prize winner who received pounds 55.

And shoppers will have the chance to see the top three outfits as they will go on display in a shop window on the Mailbox shopping and leisure centre in Birmingham..
