Classworks Shines in Comprehensive Review From PEAR.

Program in Education, Afterschool and Resiliency at Harvard University Reviews Classworks Math and Classworks Reading

DULUTH, Ga. -- Curriculum Advantage[TM], Inc. today announced that SEDL, a private, nonprofit education research, development, and dissemination organization, has reviewed Classworks Math and Reading for their newly released math and literacy Consumers' Guide.

The Consumers Guide to Afterschool Math and Literacy Resources is an initiative of the Program in Education, Afterschool and Resiliency (PEAR) at Harvard University and the National Partnership for Quality Afterschool Learning at SEDL, a program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The guide is designed to help programs locate and make informed choices about high-quality math and literacy resources that match their individual needs.

Classworks Math and Literacy were both featured curricula in this guide, which was launched at the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Summer Institute in Dallas, Texas. Classworks was reviewed by content experts selected by the Harvard Graduate School of Education, with a focus on identifying high-quality curricula that would support the creation of intentional learning environments in effective afterschool programs. The key to intentional learning is creating a precise match between clear learning goals and curricula specifically designed to meet those goals - met through Classworks' comprehensive state-aligned curriculum and ability to individualize instruction.

Strengths of Classworks Reading identified by the reviewers included:

* Students can continuously keep working and challenging themselves with higher level material.

* Allows teachers to design the scope and sequence to best meet the needs of their individual students, or the selection of pre-designed scope and sequencing linked directly to state learning standards and goals.

* Provides a variety of learning tools and programs for any given skill and immediate feedback given to students on their work.

Strengths of Classworks Math identified by the reviewers included:

* Alignment to state standards and high-stakes assessments, and ability to target instruction based on standards, test results, or student needs as assessed by the teacher or program.

* Diagnostic and prescriptive features which import and read student assessment results, allowing for the creation of individualized learning paths.

* Potential for foundational review, remediation, and intervention for struggling students.
