Classical.com is launched. (Items of Interest).


Classical.com Ltd. introduces the library world's first streaming classical music service, allowing library patrons to listen and learn as they access thousands of classical music recordings.

Classical.com is a user-friendly service presenting easily customized, on-demand listening for library users of 10,000+ classical music recordings. Users can browse (1) To view the contents of a file or a group of files. Browser programs generally let you view data by scrolling through the documents or databases. In a database program, the browse mode often lets you edit the data. See Web browser. , search and arrange the music in any way they choose.

Also included in the annual subscriptions is access to supplementary resources, including hundreds of themed play lists, thousands of key composer and artist biographies, program notes on key works and movements, daily classical music news and weekly features, and a Classical Music Beginner's Guide, timeline

Assurbanipal's library at Nineveh was cataloged on shelves of slate. The first known subject catalog was compiled by Callimachus at the Alexandrian Library in the 3d cent. B.C.  of music, including the most famous classical music works.
