Byline: Joseph Benny

Othman Mohialdin has music in his blood. A well-known Sudanese violinist, he has six musician brothers and was playing the harmonica harmonica.

1 The simplest of the musical instruments employing free reeds, known also as the mouth organ or French harp. It was probably invented in 1829 by Friedrich Buschmann of Berlin, who called his instrument the Mundäoline.
at the age of five. Since then, this Sudan-born, UK-based musician has not looked back. By the age of 14, he had learnt the lute, a traditional stringed instrument. His love affair with the violin began in 1988, and after years of experimenting and interacting with different masters in Sudan and abroad, he has mastered the instrument.

Othman was recently in Muscat Muscat, Maskat, or Masqat (all: mŭs`kăt, mŭs`kət), city (1993 pop. 533,774), capital of Oman, SE Arabia, on the Gulf of Oman. It is flanked by rugged mountains.  at the invitation of the Sudanese Community Social Club in Oman. In fact, he is on a Middle East tour, and plans to visit the UAE and Saudi Arabia, among others. Othman is someone who likes to break the mould.

His latest projects are examples of that. He is currently busy in Aaecreating the magic of traditionAAE, whereby he plans to have a musical symphony combining many traditional Sudanese instruments and music.AoWe are falling back on the

Pentatonic scales feature in Celtic folk music and West African music; on the other hand, the heptatonic scale is

commonly associated with classical Indian and Western music. OthmanAAEs first album, Magic of Violin, was well received. Among his admirers is the UK Arts Council, and he found fans in the US when he performed in New York New York, state, United States

Asked whether the onslaught of technology has done his music good, he said, AoTechnology has given me room to experiment. Today, I am in a position to get maximum impact for the sound.
