They will be at St Peter's Church, Leamington, on Wednesday and it should be a magical evening. Birmingham-based Ex Cathedra have built an international reputation and have visited Leamington, Warwick and Leamington Hastings Leamington Hastings is a small village and larger civil parish in Warwickshire, England. The village The village is located around seven miles (11 km) south-west of Rugby just to the west of the A426 road between Rugby and Southam. many times over the past 20 years. Their festive concerts have become almost legendary and they aim to get to the heart of Christmas. Jeffrey Skidmore will direct a choir of more than 30 singers on Wednesday with music ranging from traditional carols to a Bach chorale chorale (kōrăl`, –räl`), any of the traditional hymns of the German Protestant Church. The form was developed after the Reformation to replace the plainsong of the earlier service and as a means of congregational participation in and works by living composers including John Rutter, John Joubert, the Birmingham-based composer celebrating his 80th birthday this year, and Leamington-based Howard Skempton, who is celebrating his 60th birthday this year. There will also be readings from the works of writers including Ben Okri, Basil Hume, W H Auden and Kenneth Grahame. There will be mince pies and mulled wine in the interval. Tickets 01926 776438. VERSATILE baritone Roderick Williams will be among the singers at a concert in Coventry this weekend. Roderick, who lives in south Warwickshire, is on a career roll - he keeps winning plaudits in the opera house, on the concert platform and in recital. He will be joining the University of Warwick Symphony Orchestra The University of Warwick Symphony Orchestra is an orchestra based in the University of Warwick music centre and is comprised mainly of university students, together with some staff and members of the local community. and Chorus for a concert at Warwick Arts Centre Warwick Arts Centre is a multi-venue arts complex at the University of Warwick in Coventry, England. Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry is the largest arts centre in the Midlands, attracting around 280,000 visitors a year to over 2,000 individual events embracing music, drama, at 4pm on Sunday. The concert will have film music at its heart, with music from Vaughan Williams, Walton, Stravinsky and Durufle. It is going to be a busy few days for student musicians. The university's Chamber Music Society and Symphonic Brass ensembles will join forces at The Herbert Cafe in Jordan Well, Coventry city centre, tomorrow to play in a cabaret-style setting from 7.30pm. On Wednesday, the university's wind orchestra, brass society, chorus and chamber choir will gather for a Christmas spectacular at Warwick Arts Centre with festive favourites and carols.
