Classic boats and cars in Bay display.


Cardiff Bay Cardiff Bay (Welsh: Bae Caerdydd) is the regeneration area created by the Cardiff Barrage which impounded two rivers (Taff and Ely) to form a new 500 acre freshwater lake around the former dockland area south of the city centre of Cardiff in south Wales.  will host a unique gathering of classic motorboats and cars this weekend.

Members of the Classic Motor Boat Association will exhibit their vessels at the Inner Harbour from noon on both Saturday Saturday: see week; Sabbath.  and Sunday Sunday: see Sabbath; week. .

The motorboats will be joined on Sunday by a spectacular range of classic cars organised by the Historic Motoring Federation.

In addition, there will be a number of water-based activities for all the family.

"One boat is from 1943, and was used for target practice in the war.

"Cardiff Bay is a superb location for the boats to be seen at their best, providing great viewing for spectators."

Councillor Nigel Howells, Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, said: "We are delighted to welcome back the classic boat and car rally, which is much enjoyed by enthusiasts and visitors alike.

"It celebrates the history of motoring and provides a fantastic venue in which to meet and exhibit these special pieces.

"This is just one of many free events on offer by Cardiff Council The County Council of City and County of Cardiff (Welsh: Dinas a Sir Caerdydd) is the governing body for Cardiff, one of the Principal Areas of Wales. The council consists of 75 councillors, representing 29 electoral wards.  and the Harbour Authority this summer in the Bay."
