Classic hard-rockers Shooting Star have organized 'Let's Roll,' a special fundraiser in support of U.S. Troops set to take place Monday, May 5, 2003, at the Hard Rock Cafe Hard Rock Cafe is a chain of casual dining restaurants. It was founded in 1971 by Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton, and their first Hard Rock Cafe opened near Hyde Park Corner in London, in a former Rolls Royce car dealerships showroom close to Hyde Park, where in 1979 they began to  in Washington, D.C. The concert bears the name of Shooting Star's latest single, "Let's Roll The catchphrase "let's roll" has been used extensively as a term to move and start an activity, attack, mission or project. For a period of time after the attacks of September 11, 2001, the phrase in the United States came to symbolize heroism and initiative in a tough situation. ," which was written last year in tribute to Todd Beamer Todd Morgan Beamer (November 24, 1968 – September 11, 2001) was a passenger aboard United Airlines Flight 93 and a victim of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Beamer attended Los Gatos High School, Wheaton Academy, DePaul University, California State University, Fresno
and the men and women of United flight #93, and has since been adopted as the official theme song of the Todd Beamer Foundation. Though originally inspired by 9/11, "Let's Roll" has a universal message, and Shooting Star felt it was appropriate -- and important -- to extend the track's salute to heroism to honor America's men and women in uniform who are so bravely serving our country. To that end, proceeds from the event will benefit the Red Cross, specifically their work on behalf of the U.S. Military and their families around the globe.

Together for almost 25 years, Shooting Star is one of the quintessential American "heartland" rock bands -- though ironically, in the late `70s, they were the first U.S. act ever signed to then start-up British label Virgin Records. Their hard-edged but pop-savvy repertoire -- driven by stellar musicianship and powerful lyrical content -- includes the signature tracks "Bring It On," "Flesh & Blood," "Hollywood," and "Last Chance," which one reviewer at online music bible allmusic.com called "flat out one of the best songs ever." "Let's Roll" can be found alongside these classic hits on "Tonight," Shooting Star's new in-concert DVD DVD: see digital versatile disc.

Following this historic benefit, Shooting Star will play a private event on May 6 for XM Satellite Radio, America's most popular satellite radio service, at their Washington, D.C. based studio and headquarters, which will be made available exclusively to XM subscribers. Discussions are also underway for a free concert at a D.C. area military base, details to follow. Shooting Star has already performed at Barksdale Air Force Base Barksdale Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base across the Red River from Shreveport. Louisiana and near Bossier City, Louisiana, that was established in 1933.  in Louisiana, where some of the 917th Wing's planes scheduled for deployment in Operation Iraqi Freedom were painted with the words "Let's Roll." Pilots used the phrase for inspiration, and when the Base heard Shooting Star's song -- after Lisa Beamer sent it to the Pentagon -- they invited the band down to play for the troops. At that very special concert, performed on the tarmac alongside "Let's Roll"-emblazoned A-10 Warthogs and B52s, Shooting Star's impassioned musical tribute to heroism found its ideal audience.
