, Mass. -- Clarks unveiled today a collection of limited edition styles to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its iconic i·con·ic

Desert Boot. The six styles, each representing one of the six decades since the boot's inception, have been inspired by the fashion and ethos of the decade. Through the years the Desert Boot has become a cult classic, selling over 12 million pairs worldwide.

First created in 1949 by Nathan Clark, the Desert Boot remains almost unchanged since its launch in 1950 at the Chicago Shoe Fair. The Desert Boot uses natural materials and a simple construction to create a classic style. The inspiration for the original was a crepe soled rough suede boot made in Cairo's fabled Old Bazaar for British officers during World War II.

In the six decades since its creation the Desert Boot has become a style classic. Spotted everywhere from the latest fashion runways to the feet of the hottest musicians and actors of the day, the shoe's simplicity, versatility and individuality have helped to secure its place on the register of iconic designs. Today, 60 years after its debut, the Desert Boot lives on.

To mark the 60th anniversary of this classic style, Clarks developed a collection of six limited edition styles based on classic fashions from decades past. The collection is comprised of three men's styles and three women's styles.

1960's (women's style): Drawing inspiration from the geometric prints and flower power styles of the 1960's, Clarks developed this Desert Boot featuring Liberty of London([R]) Bourton fabric.
