Clarke leaves Quakers for Bradford.


Darlington defender Matt Clarke has joined League One Bradford City on a two-year contract.

The Leeds-born 25-year-old had been stalling over a new deal to stay at Darlington Arena but said his desire to return home had been a factor in joining the Bantams.

"Bradford City are a big club and I am really lucky to be here," he said. "I remember being told of Bradford's interest a couple of years ago and I am obviously delighted now it has paid off. I enjoyed my time at Darlington but I am a Yorkshire lad and it's good to be back."

The giant centre-back and club captain became a popular figure among Quakers fans after joining from Halifax Town in 2002.

Clarke started his career as a striker with Wolves, but was converted to defence during his three years at The Shay shay
