After spending 10 years in prison for burning down the Emily Dickinson house and killing two people who were inside, Sam Pulsifer remakes his life. He gets a degree and a job, marries, has two kids, and never tells a soul (not even his wife) about his past. His parents know, but Sam has told everyone (even his wife) that his parents are dead.
