Claritas Announces Release of 2001 Demographic Updates; Leading Demographic Data Provider is First to Incorporate 2000 Census Data.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 21, 2001

Responding to its longstanding commitment to provide the most accurate and comprehensive demographic data available, Claritas Inc., the premier provider of intelligent marketing information and target marketing services, became the first such provider to incorporate Census 2000 results in the release of its 2001 estimates and 2006 projections.

The data will be offered in a variety of reports both at the Claritas SiteReports.com site, as well as through the Express call-in service, at 800/234-5973.

The Claritas 2001 estimates and 2006 projections incorporate Census 2000 redistricting redistricting: see legislative apportionment.  data into a full-featured, fully integrated set of information products. "This update provides the value of the new census data without sacrificing data content or functionality," explained Linda Jacobsen, senior vice president of strategic resources at Claritas.

Jacobsen added that because all of the data collected in the 2000 Census have not been yet released, "Our 2001 estimates of characteristics still utilize Claritas' proprietary methods and data inputs." The last Census 2000 data release, Summary File 3, is scheduled to be out between June and September 2002.

Heather Oles, vice president of software product management who also directs the eCommerce function, said the updated reports on the Web site include:
