Claris launches aggressive holiday software promotion for Macintosh retailers; Retailers to have three enticing add-ons for important Macintosh selling season.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 6, 1995--Claris Corporation today begins a roll out of aggressively priced holiday software bundles for computer software retailers.

The bundles are designed to appeal to people purchasing Macintosh systems from retailers, especially small business and home users who buy the popular Performa Macintosh from Apple Computer, Inc.

These holiday specials were announced today at RetailVision Fall `95, an industry event in Laguna Niguel, Calif., focusing on computer products retailers, signifying Signifyin' (slang) is an African-American rhetorical device featuring indirect communication or persuasion and the creating of new meanings for old words and signs. Signifying, in this sense, includes repetition and difference, implication and association, combining words and  the beginning of the holiday selling season.

Claris is offering retailers a choice of software bundles for small and home business, education and entertainment ranging in estimated retail price (ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Evolving out of the manufacturing industry, ERP implies the use of packaged software rather than proprietary software written by or for one customer. ) from $49 to $149, and are valued from $185 to $465 (ERP). A number of large computer retailers have signed up. The special offer bundles will ship to retailers by the end of September.

"The holiday season is the largest consumer selling season of the year, and these special bundles put Claris, and our partners, at the forefront," said Dave Larson, senior director of worldwide sales operations for Claris Corporation. "Our add-on applications and content offerings are a natural fit for this year's Macintosh buyers. It's a great deal for retailers and customers."
