Claris Expands Electronic Software Distribution Options; Move Will Enhance Service for Consumers Purchasing Software On-Line.

A COM machine receives print-image output from the computer either online or via tape or disk and creates a film image of each page. .

The new agreements expand ESD programs already in place at Claris including distribution of trial software, public beta software Noun 1. beta software - software that has not yet been released but has received an alpha test and still has more bugs than a regular release; "beta software is usually available only to particular users who will test it" , software maintenance updates and links to online resellers directly from the Claris web site.

Building on the success of the electronic distribution of Claris Em@iler 1.1 and Claris Home Page 2.0 beta software in 1996, Claris has selected two of the most popular sites for software on the web to handle electronic distribution of many Claris and Apple-branded products.

Claris views the Internet as an innovative means for creating awareness and consideration of its products and as a new channel for driving demand, trial and fulfillment.
