It was bought and marketed by the Apple Computer spin-off Claris.  1.1, the award-winning email manager for Mac OS, free of charge over the Internet for a limited time as part of its aggressive strategy to increase market share in the electronic mail software category.

Much of the phenomenal expansion of the Internet email software market was fueled by the explosion of ISPs offering World Wide Web access and Internet email.

To best serve these online consumers, Claris is also offering access to free Emailer 1.1 downloading through software.net (http://software.net) and CNET's DOWNLOAD.COM (http://www.download.com).

Claris will offer Claris Emailer 1.1 free on its web site, software.net's web site and CNET's DOWNLOAD.COM until Claris Emailer 2.0 becomes available.

Claris Emailer 2.0 for Mac OS will begin shipping in early 1997 for an estimated retail price (ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Evolving out of the manufacturing industry, ERP implies the use of packaged software rather than proprietary software written by or for one customer. ) of $49. The education estimated retail price (EERP) is $39. With proof of purchase and an in-box coupon users of previous versions of Claris Emailer, the Apple Internet Connection Kit and Eudora Pro with receive a $10 rebate from Claris.

This offer will be extended to users of Eudora Pro with proof of purchase. Pricing for Claris Emailer for Windows is not available at this time.
