Claris Announces New Volume Licensing for Claris and Apple Brand Software; ClarisPLUS program offers broader line of software for volume-license customers; Claris is primary source of Apple brand software in U.S.SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 1995--Claris (Claris Corporation, Santa Clara, CA) A software subsidiary of Apple that was separated from the corporation (although mostly owned by it) in 1988 and then bought back in 1990. In 1998, Apple turned Claris Corporation into FileMaker, Inc., to focus on database and Web software. FileMaker Pro and Claris Home Page were the products retained by FileMaker. Corporation announced that the highly regarded ClarisPLUS volume licensing program has expanded, and starting today new U.S. ClarisPLUS agreements will include the Apple Computer Inc. brand software titles formerly sold through the Apple Software Volume Licensing (ASVL) program. The ASVL program will no longer be offered to new customers. In addition, Claris will be the primary channel marketing, sales and distribution organization for all Apple brand software sold through distributors and resellers in the U.S. "Claris and Apple software customers and resellers will have a better solution for buying both software lines," said David R.
