Users of portable, handheld and palm-sized PCs can access a JetSend-enabled printer or any other peripheral using the JetSend communications protocol directly without having to go through a host PC or device driver.

Examples of devices with IR-IP gateways supported by EthIR WAN/LAN include the Kodak DC 265 digital camera, the HP CapShare 920 portable e-copier, Palm Computing devices such as Palm IIIx, & V, and HP Jornada WinCE devices.
