Clarified PP Challenges PET in Water Bottle.Bavaria, a leading South American bottler of beer, juices and water, has decided on clarified polypropylene instead of PET for its first 500-cc-stretch-blow molded water bottle. Based in Colombia, Bavaria chose PP both for cost and for its resistance to odor and flavor transfer from adjacent food containers on store shelves. This application positions PP as an alternative to PET in beverages as well as hot-fill juices, sauces, and milk. The PP is a Unipol-process random copolymer copolymer: see polymer. made by Polipropileno del Caribe SAin Cartagena, Colombia, incorporating Millad 3988 clarifier from Milliken Chemical, Spartanburg, S.C.
