Clarifications.Your article about Jose Manuel Carreno [DANCE MAGAZINE, March 2004, page 46] was very interesting and beautifully presented. I am writing, however, to point out an omission. We are proud to say that Carreno's first appearances in the United States took place when he competed at the second New York International Ballet Competition, held in 1987. Carreno was seen by thousands at City Center and was awarded a gold medal by the NYIBC NYIBC New York Islanders Booster Club panel of judges Panel of Judges is an indie pop band from Melbourne, Australia. AUDREY ROSS Press Representative, New York International Ballet Competition New York, NY It is both humbling and flattering to be mentioned in DANCE MAGAZINE [March 2004, page 63]. I would like to make one clarification. My dream was to dance for Paul Taylor. I had seen Aureole while at the American Dance Festival The American Dance Festival is a six-week summer festival of modern dance performances, and a school for dance currently held at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. at Connecticut College, and from that point there was no other choice for me. From 1971 to 1972 I was able to work for Mr. Taylor as company "understudy." He was kind and thoughtful to me, and I found his works to be the ultimate joy to dance. In 1973 I left New York City New York City: see New York, city. New York City City (pop., 2000: 8,008,278), southeastern New York, at the mouth of the Hudson River. The largest city in the U.S. for Beirut as Elie Chaib was leaving Beirut for New York City. Life is an exchange. MARIANNE HANDY HRAIBI St. Johnsbury, VT I am writing about "Partnerships" [DANCE MAGAZINE, March 2004, page 66]. To quote, "Watchmaker Movado has created three limited-edition ruby, diamond, and sapphire necklaces to celebrate Stars and Stripes Stars and Stripes nickname for the U.S. flag. [Am. Hist.: Brewer Dictionary, 8567] See : America , choreographed by George Balanchine for Suzanne Farrell." Mr. Balanchine choreographed Stars and Stripes for Melissa Hayden. I believe Movado should give her a special gift and not overlook the ballerina who set the standards at NYCB of the Balanchine ballerina!
