Clarification of Avalon's Uinta Basin Prospect's 4 Trillion Cubic Feet of Recoverable Gas.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Avalon Gold Corporation (OTCBB OTCBB

The US Geological Survey The term geological survey can be used to describe both the conduct of a survey for geological purposes and an institution holding geological information.

and the oil and gas industry recognize that the sedimentary basins of the Rocky Mountains contain hundreds of trillions of cubic feet of recoverable gas (methane) from low permeability sandstone.

Avalon's prospect is in the heart of a deep overpressured gas accumulation and is within a "basin centered gas play", which does not require conventional traps and seals, which oil and gas industry players sought in the past. Instead, the rate at which gas is generated in the deep heart of the Uinta Basin exceeds the rate at which gas migrates up-dip and towards the surface. This causes the deep basin-centered gas accumulation to become over-pressured, which is the case of the Company's prospect.

Assuming total coal thickness of up to 250 feet, the Company expects 74.2 TCF of gas per township to have been generated within the deep basin-centered gas-prone wedge of sediments. Ten percent (10%) of this amount or 7.42 TCFG TCFG Trillion Cubic Feet of Gas (Natural Gas)  per township is deemed recoverable from the Emery-Starpoint and Ferron shore-face sandstones. With Avalon's 13,189 acre leasehold, 4.2 TCFG is recoverable assuming a 10% recovery factor. The assumption is that none of the gas generated in the area has escaped above the water-gas contact of the basin-centered accumulation, and that the Emery-Starpoint and Ferron sandstones are the major gas reservoirs.

"The potential of Avalon's prospect in the Uinta Basin is enormous, based on the geology and data available to date," states Dr. Robert Milam, a recent member of Avalon's Advisory Board and Management Team.

On behalf of the company,

Carlton Parfitt, President
