ClariPhy Communications Closes $8 Million Series A Financing Round.

IRVINE, Calif. -- ClariPhy Communications, a fabless semiconductor company A fabless semiconductor company specializes in the design and sale of hardware devices implemented on semiconductor chips. It achieves an advantage by outsourcing the fabrication of the devices to a specialized semiconductor manufacturer called a semiconductor foundry or "fab.  specializing in high-speed communications ICs, announced today that it has secured $8 million in Series A financing. The company expects to use the proceeds to staff its engineering team and to develop its first family of silicon products, which target 10-Gbit/s optical networks for enterprise applications.

The Series A financing was led by Norwest Venture Partners (NVP NVP Network Voice Protocol

"With their support, we will continue to build our engineering expertise in the areas of analog IC design and signal processing, and we will bring our first family of 10-Gbit/s PHY See physical layer and physical.  chips to market."

"We believe ClariPhy will dramatically improve price performance of 10-Gbit/s links, presenting a huge market opportunity in the data center and the enterprise," said Robert Abbott of Norwest Venture Partners. "We were also impressed with the founding team's knowledge and experience around high speed ICs and its ability to assemble the best 10G team in the industry."

About ClariPhy Communications

ClariPhy Communications, Inc. is a fabless semiconductor company that designs and markets complex physical-layer products (ICs) for high-speed communications. ClariPhy's initial products, which target 10-Gbit/s optical networks in the enterprise market, significantly lower the cost of 10-Gbit/s optical modules while enabling the reuse of the large installed base of multi-mode fiber (MMF See multimode fiber. ). As a result, these products will enable enterprise network users to seamlessly and cost-effectively upgrade their MMF infrastructure to 10-Gbit/s.
