Clarent(TM) Corp., the premier provider of carrier-grade, phone-to-phone Internet telephony solutions worldwide, today announced a comprehensive suite of roaming and settlement products: Clarent Roaming Server, Clarent Connect, Clarent Collector and Clarent Collections Manager.

Together, these new products will enable service providers to expand their Internet telephony service worldwide, by developing multi-faceted partnership agreements and sharing network resources with other network operators around the globe. The new Clarent package is the first step toward a comprehensive clearinghouse package, which Clarent will be adding later this year.

Much like cellular and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) technology, service providers must be able to offer seamless access to the Internet telephony network as users "roam" or travel in and out of their local networks. Clarent's roaming capability allows users' access numbers to be recognized, for billing purposes, as they travel from network to network.

In addition, Clarent's network sharing feature enables service providers to originate calls on one network and terminate them on other networks. Finally, providers need the ability to settle transactions with their business partners, and Clarent's products collect billing records and facilitate transaction clearing and settlement among partners.

A full service clearinghouse package is also under development. The new Clarent roaming and settlement products can be deployed individually or together as part of a comprehensive carrier partnership program. All four products will be available in the second quarter of 1998.
