Claremont to add taxiway.

Claremont Municipal Airport Claremont Municipal Airport (IATA: CNH, ICAO: KCNH, FAA LID: CNH) is a public-use airport located one mile (2 km) west of the central business district of Claremont, a city in Sullivan County, New Hampshire, United States.  has been awarded a $730,000 federal grant for a new taxiway taxiway: see airport. .

Construction was expected to begin earlier this month on a project that includes construction of a 35-foot wide, 1,400-foot parallel taxiway from the hangar area to the runway, allowing airplanes to come and go without having to turn around on the runway.

Plans also call for installation of live navigational aids, including two runway edge identification lights, which show airplanes at what angle to land and new precision approach path indicators, which are stronger lights that direct planes where to land on the runway.

The Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), component of the U.S. Department of Transportation that sets standards for the air-worthiness of all civilian aircraft, inspects and licenses them, and regulates civilian and military air traffic through its air traffic control  is funding 95 percent of the improvement project, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation's Bureau of Aeronautics The Bureau of Aeronautics (BuAer) was the U.S. Navy's material-support organization for Naval Aviation from 1921 to 1959. The bureau had "cognizance" (i.e., responsibility) for the design, procurement, and support of Naval aircraft and related systems.  funds 2.5 percent and the city of Claremont funds 2.5 percent.
