Netopia, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTPA), a market leader in broadband equipment, software and services today announced that one of France's leading broadband service providers, Claranet, is deploying Netopia's 3347W and 3387W 3-D Reach(TM) Wireless Gateways. Claranet will provide the gateways as part of high-speed Internet services provided to small and medium-sized enterprises that want to take advantage of wireless technologies. The service, named Clara Wi-Fi, is available for the entire ADSL, Turbo DSL and SDSL service offerings of Claranet. To achieve the best performance, the wireless routers selected by Claranet feature the 3-D Reach Wi-Fi technology, an innovative system developed by Netopia in order to optimize the coverage and reliability of wireless networks.

Claranet selected the Netopia 3347W-ENT ADSL Gateway and the Netopia 3387W-ENT Ethernet Gateway for their deployments. These Netopia gateways combine a Wi-Fi Certified 802.11b Access Point with a 4-port Ethernet switch, a complete VPN pass-through, a Stateful Packet Inspection Firewall and an ADSL modem (Netopia 3347W-ENT) or an Ethernet interface which connects to an external modem (Netopia 3387W-ENT). The WEP 256 bit encryption, the MAC address filtering and a secured access mode enable the user to control wireless network access.
