Clarabridge Brings Unique Text-Mining Expertise to BioIT Alliance.

RESTON, Va. -- Clarabridge, a leader in text-mining software, today announced that it has joined the BioIT Alliance, an organization uniting the pharmaceutical, biotech, hardware and software industries to speed the pace of discovery in life sciences and improve biomedical bi·o·med·i·cal

information technology. As a member of the BioIT Alliance, Clarabridge will collaborate with Microsoft Corporation (company) Microsoft Corporation - The biggest supplier of operating systems and other software for IBM PC compatibles. Software products include MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows, Windows NT, Microsoft Access, LAN Manager, MS Client, SQL Server, Open Data Base Connectivity (ODBC), MS Mail,  and other leading companies on proof-of-concept applications that address critical bottlenecks in biomedical discovery.

"We are excited to have Clarabridge on board with the BioIT Alliance," said Don Rule, Platform Strategy Advisor for Microsoft and Director of the BioIT Alliance. "The early focus of the alliance has been on addressing particular data-capture and integration challenges that hinder the adoption of emerging life-science technologies, and we particularly welcome Clarabridge's expertise and contributions in this area."

The data available to life-sciences companies today is growing exponentially in both quantity and complexity. These companies need more comprehensive data-integration solutions, better technical collaboration and stronger knowledge-management capabilities in order to shorten the time between discovery of new biological data and the application of that knowledge to human health. The BioIT Alliance is forging innovative ways to address these challenges and use technology to reduce costs, streamline research and market life-sciences products more effectively.

Clarabridge enables its life-science customers to widen their view of their information assets to include both "structured" and "unstructured" data such as medical records, laboratory data and even online blogs and clinical trial data. Clarabridge integrates text-mining, search and business-intelligence functionality in quick-to-implement, simple-to-use software solutions that help life-science companies make better-informed business decisions more quickly. Clarabridge's Content Mining Platform solution de-identifies patient data and integrates with terminology standards such as Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine For the collection of information officially organized with the SNOMED system, see SNOMED CT.

"We look forward to working through the BioIT Alliance to bring these capabilities to bear in the life sciences."
