The spinster decided at 12 she would never wed - and that meant remaining a virgin. She said: "I've never had a boyfriend and I've just never been interested in or fancied sex. I imagine there is a lot of hassle and I have always been busy doing other things." Clara, born in Glasgow in 1903, spent her youth in Egypt, Canada and New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland. before coming home in her 20s to be a secretary. She lives in a nursing home in Perranporth, Cornwall. |
