Clam up! It's Blues & Brews time in Florence.

FLORENCE - People who love blues music, chowder chowder, stew of fish or shellfish with potatoes, onions, and pork (usually salt pork), thickened with crumbled hard bread. The name chowder seems to have originated from the French word chaudière , beer or any combination of the three will flock to the central coast this weekend for the 11th annual Chowder, Blues & Brews Festival, featuring emcee Paul Biondi.

The action takes place at the Florence Events Center and includes music, microbrews and a Saturday chowder cook-off.

The Florence Chamber of Commerce is presenting the whole event and each year hosts the opportunity for someone to be crowned the best chowder maker on the Oregon Coast.

After 1 p.m. Saturday, attendees can sample all the entries and honor one establishment with the People's Choice Award.

Coastal establishments from Brookings to Astoria will enter the cooking contest for a chance to win $1,000 and keep the traveling trophy for a year, according to a news release.

More than 15 restaurants will keep festivalgoers fed, while mainly local brewers will supply the ales and stouts. Deschutes Brewery from Bend, Rogue Ales from Newport, Pelican Pub & Brewery from Pacific City and locally owned Wakonda Brewing are some of the brewers who will be there.

A fifth brew booth will sell beers from Full Sail, Alaskan Brewing Company Alaskan Brewing Company is a regional craft brewery located in Juneau, Alaska. Alaskan Brewing's beers are available in nine western states.

Founded in 1986 and formerly named Chinook Brewing Company, Alaskan Brewing Company has won more than 33 major medals and awards,
 and BridgePort Brewing Company BridgePort Brewing Company is an American brewery located in Portland, Oregon.

BridgePort was founded in 1984 by local winemakers Richard and Nancy Ponzi, and the brewery claims in their trademark to be "Oregon's Oldest Craft Brewery".

The musical headliner is Stevie Ray Vaughan Stephen "Stevie" Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990), born in Dallas, Texas, was an American blues guitarist. His broad appeal, combination of unbelievable speed, precision, energy, passion and emotion and constant expansion of his Blues style into Funk, Jazz,  tribute band Alan Iglesias & Crossfire A multi-GPU interface from ATI for connecting two ATI display adapters together for faster graphics rendering on one monitor. CrossFire machines require PCI Express slots, a CrossFire-enabled motherboard and, depending on which models are used, either a pair of ATI Radeon adapters or one , from California. The group will play Saturday night.
