Opponents of an elected North East Assembly have dropped a legal challenge over a Government information leaflet.

No Campaigner Neil Herron claimed a statement that an election to choose members of the Assembly would be by proportional representation proportional representation: see representation.

 was misleading.

Mr Herron says that when the case came before a judge, Treasury solicitors asked for a capping order on costs to be removed which would leave the campaign facing massive potential costs at a full hearing.

Meanwhile, the Yes campaign is launching a roadshow in the run-up to the referendum referendum, referral of proposed laws or constitutional amendments to the electorate for final approval. This direct form of legislation, along with the initiative, was known in Greece and other early democracies.  on November 4. It will kick off in Washington on Monday.
