Recent projects feature robust application of GEOPAK(R) software on a broad scope of engineering projects, including roads through mountainous terrain, rail corridors, bridges, and underground subway tunnels. GEOPAK software is based on MicroStation(R). MK Centennial: E-470 Toll Road MK Centennial, a division of Morrison Knudsen, is using GEOPAK Civil Engineering Suite on the massive E-470 Toll Road project around the east side of Denver. MK Centennial has met the design schedule for the first year of construction and has now substantially completed all civil design for the project. GEOPAK software has provided MK Centennial the advantages of rapid training and startup, a more efficient second design phase that kept all designers working independently, and a smooth, automated plans production process. This primarily green-fields project is nearly 30 miles long and requires 12 interchanges, 33 bridges, 10 million cubic yards of embankment, one million tons of asphalt paving, and 135 utility relocations. "Other, template-based systems make you define exactly what the roadway template will look like at each segment of the road," says Mark Talvitie, senior project manager on the E-470 project.
