the Global Foundation for Smart Communities, it is estimated that over 50,000 cities worldwide are beginning to embrace such 'smart' initiatives.

CivicLife.com Interprise was conceived to fulfill the need for a central portal application that can successfully deliver information and services from across all sectors of a community through a cohesive, cross-jurisdictional online gateway.

"To date, the market has been flooded with 'portal silo' solutions that only cater to one facet of a community, usually government services alone. These applications have proven to be too narrowly-focused for a smart community's needs," said Kevin Higgins, CivicLife.com's President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Through CivicLife.com Interprise's 'single window' portal platform, 'smart' communities have the freedom to configure See configuration.

a portal solution that encompasses the entire spectrum of their community's core offerings in a citizen-centric manner."

The inherent flexibility of CivicLife.com Interprise also lends itself as a viable solution to communities' desire to foster local economic development, added Higgins. "With the growth of e-Commerce, consumers are now able to easily shop for goods outside of their community, which is essentially 'hollowing out' local economies, particularly in small towns," he said. "CivicLife.com Interprise can be configured con·fig·ure

Available 'out of the box', CivicLife.com Interprise enables civic organizations to create and deploy information and services Channels, map information to the geographic area or community to which it relates, animate e-democracy and citizen collaboration vehicles, and select desired content from other civic entities, such as federal and state governments, for true cross-jurisdictional delivery. Built-in integration capabilities permit civic organizations to leverage existing web investments, such as current websites, thereby minimizing costs.

The unveiling of CivicLife.com Interprise is the first in a series of major launches over 2001 that will round out the company's complete civic portal application strategy, said Higgins.
