St. John's Telegram, Western Star and Nashua Telegraph all to use eClassifiedXpress

CityXpress Corp., a company whose online marketplaces have generated more than $60 million in revenue for newspapers in the past two years, today announced agreements with The Telegram and The Western Star of Newfoundland, Canada and The Telegraph of Nashua, N.H. to e-commerce enable the newspapers' classified ads with eClassifiedXpress.

eClassifiedXpress will provide the complete platform for a new online-only classified marketplace being launched by The Telegram and The Western Star. This package includes an online ad-taking system that allows sellers to submit their classified ads; a classified Web site that allows ads to be browsed or searched and displayed; and e-commerce functionality that allows users to transaction-enable their ads. The classified marketplace will cover the entire province of Newfoundland, and is scheduled to launch in mid-January.

"The implementation we are now completing for The Telegram and The Western Star uses the full feature set of our eClassifiedXpress platform to provide an end-to-end solution (jargon) end-to-end solution - (E2ES) A term that suggests that the supplier of an application program or system will provide all the hardware and/or software components and resouces to meet the customer's requirement and no other supplier need be involved.

In a more typical application, The Telegraph will be integrating CityXpress' eClassifiedXpress platform with its own classified Web site and online ad-taking system. The Telegraph plans to launch its e-commerce enabled classifieds in mid-January.

"More and more newspapers are discovering the value of eClassifiedXpress to respond to online competition by companies such as eBay and Craigslist," said Dubois. "It's no secret that newspapers are losing classified revenue to these companies, and we believe that eClassifiedXpress is a key part of the solution newspapers are looking for Looking for

When a purchaser clicks on the button, eClassifiedXpress guides them through the online purchase and payment process.
