City to seek planners for Governors Island project.


Requests for Proposals for the development advisory and master planning services are being issued to support the full planning and development process for Governors Island that will begin in February.

On January 2, 2006, the Governors Island Preservation and Education Corporation will issue two separate RFPs for services required to assist in the planning and redevelopment of Governors Island. These RFPs are part of the full development RFP (Request For Proposal) A document that invites a vendor to submit a bid for hardware, software and/or services. It may provide a general or very detailed specification of the system.

The deadline for responses is January 23, 2006 at 3:00 pm. A site visit and pre-proposal information session for both RFPs has been scheduled for January 5, 2006--at 9:00 am for the development advisory services advisory services

The RFP for development advisory seeks consulting teams with development advisory, cost-estimating and pre-construction advisory expertise to provide these services in conjunction with the planning and redevelopment of Governors Island. These services can be provided by one firm or through a collaboration of multiple firms and/or individuals. The scope of work shall generally consist of advising and assisting GIPEC GIPEC Governors Island Preservation and Education Corporation  during a) the master developer/developer services RFP phase of the project, b) the selection and retention of and negotiations with a developer(s), and c) as necessary, during the design and construction process.

The RFP for master planning seeks consulting teams with urban design, landscape architecture and engineering expertise. The services can be provided by one firm or through a collaboration of multiple firms and/or individuals. The scope of services shall generally consist of a) advising and assisting GIPEC during the master developer/developer services RFP phase of the project and during the selection of a developer(s), b) integrating urban planning urban planning: see city planning.
