City to auction 175 city-owned lots and buildings May 30.

City (pop., 2000: 8,008,278), southeastern New York, at the mouth of the Hudson River. The largest city in the U.S.
 Department of Citywide Administration Services will hold a public real estate auction of more than 175 City-owned vacant lots and buildings located throughout the five boroughs. The auction, which starts at 9 a.m., will be held at the Jacobs Javits Convention Center.

Bidding on some properties will start as low as $1,000. Purchasers of City-owned property are required to put down a deposit of 20% of the purchase price on the day of the auction. A purchase money mortgage may be available for sale of more than $20,000. Qualified purchasers may apply for the 7.5% mortgage.
