City songs are sought for archive.


BANDS and musicians are being invited to submit recordings of their work for a collection to be housed in Birmingham Central Library Birmingham Central Library is the main public library in Birmingham, England.

The main body containing the music library, collections, and reference library is located on several floors over Paradise Forum, with the main entrance and lending section in Chamberlain Square.

The Brum Beats Collection will bang the drum for local talent and serve as a permanent archive of the city's thriving musical scene.

Copies of albums and singles donated will be made available to library users.

Jonathan Goodwin Jonathan Goodwin (born February 20 1980) is a British TV escapologist, and brother of journalist and TV presenter Jane Harvey. He first appeared on Channel 4 TV programme Dirty Tricks and has subsequently appeared in TV specials , arts manager at the library, said: "If you'll forgive the expression, it's important that we keep a record of the performers and bands this city produces, both now and in the future.

"Music by its very nature is often ephemeral Temporary. Fleeting. Transitory.  and transitory. I hope this will provide an accurate and accessible catalogue of Birmingham's bands and the eras in which they played."
