Alper announced the sale of a 33,200 s/f parcel of vacant city-owned property in the Bronx, to the Mount Hope Community Center, a not-for-profit corporation A not-for-profit corporation is a corporation created by statute, government or judicial authority that is not intended to provide a profit to the owners or members. A corporation that is organized to provide profits to its owners or members is a for-profit corporation.  affiliated with the Mount Hope Housing Company.

The Mayor's office, Borough President Borough President (informally BP, or Beep in slang) is an elective office in each of the five boroughs of New York City.

The offices of borough president were created in 1898 with the formation of the City of Greater New York.
 Adolfo Carrion Jr. and Councilmember Maria Baez allocated $7,655,000 in City capital funds to the project.

The site consists of four vacant lots located on a block bounded by Townsend and Walton Avenues, East 175th Street and East 176th Street in the Mr. Hope section of the Bronx.

The sale price for the property was $436,500. Construction is expected to begin this summer.
