City seeks RFP in Bx for development site.


New York City Economic Development Corporation Overview
New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is a non-profit local development corporation that promotes economic growth across New York City's five boroughs.
 is calling for Request for Proposals for the sale and development of an approximately 74,500s/f site in the Kingsbridge-Riverdale section of the Bronx.

The property is currently a surface parking lot near the northeast corner of 230th Street and Broadway. It is adjacent to a privately-owned vacant lot of about 11,000 s/f.

Because the inclusion of adequate parking will be an important consideration in evaluating the proposals, respondents that demonstrate an understanding of parking issues and traffic flow will be given preference The property is currently being used through a short-term lease as a parking lot, but will be delivered vacant at closing.

The property is directly north of the Harlem River Harlem River, navigable tidal channel, 8 mi (12.9 km) long with Spuyten Duyvil Creek, in New York City, SE N.Y., separating Manhattan from the Bronx. Connecting the Hudson and East rivers, it is a shipping shortcut between Long Island Sound and river ports north of  Broadway Bridge Broadway Bridge is the name of several bridges:

  • Broadway Bridge (Kansas City), Kansas City, Missouri
  • Broadway Bridge (Little Falls), Little Falls, Minnesota

 and is easily accessible to consumers and workers living in Upper Manhattan Upper Manhattan denotes the more northerly region of the New York City Borough of Manhattan. Its southern boundary may be defined anywhere between 59th Street and 155th Street. , Yonkers and the Bronx. It is also accessible to the Major Deegan Expressway The Major William Francis Deegan Expressway (sometimes called "The Major Deegan" or simply "the Deegan") is an 8.4 mile (13.5 km) part of Interstate 87 in the New York City, USA, borough of The Bronx.  via 230th Street. The 230th Street subway station on the 1 and 9 lines is only one block away and frequent buses serve both Broadway and 230th Street.

The Kingsbridge/Riverdale area consists of a vibrant grouping of residential areas, with a variety of retail uses including restaurants, major grocery stores and national clothing stores, as well as smaller stores and service establishments. A Target store development under construction near the site will further enhance the location's attractiveness for retail use.

EDC will use a variety of criteria to evaluate proposals, including economic impact on the city, development team qualifications, financial feasibility, relationship to community and design components.
