City rocks to the new Mersey beat.


A MAJOR event is being organised to celebrate Liverpool's music industry.

Independents Day,in the city centre on July July: see month.  4, will pull together the movers and shakers Shakers, popular name for members of the United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearing, also called the Millennial Church. Members of the movement, who received their name from the trembling produced by religious emotion, were also known as Alethians.  of Merseyside's vibrant music scene for a day-long series of seminars and gigs.

Organisers say it will offer independent record labels the chance to meet up and share experience and advice.

Experts from all aspects of the industry will be on hand to offer their views on subjects such as The Creative Shoestring and Radio Killed The Radio Star.

The music scene in the city is busier than ever, with homegrown talent like The Coral and Ladytron gaining national success via local labels. Independents Day spokesman Joe Shooman Joe 'Rev Shoo' Shooman is a British music journalist. He is Live Reviews Editor for The Fly and also writes for several of the country's top music publications, including Metal Hammer, Play Music, Plan B, Music Mart, Record Collector and Mixmag.  said: ``It is a great time to be involved in music in Liverpool.''
