Police said the hunted man could have a gashed right cheek.

Mr, Patrick Smyth, aged 33. was knifed in the chest in the incide it inside Yates's Wine Loxlge in Corporation Street.

Other customers saw him collapse bleeding on the floor.

Mr. Smyth, who lives in Newtown, was taken to 'Birmingham's General Hospital, His condition was said to be "not serious."

The wanted man was said by police to be aged about 50 and about 5ft. 8in. tall.

He had dark hair going grey, a dark coloured suit and spectacles spectacles /spec·ta·cles/ (spek´tah-k'ls) glasses.

He is thought to have an Irish accent.

Police said the incident followed an argument in the public house in which the man had received the cut.

His clothes were thought to be blood-stained.
