City of Solana Beach Fire Department Hosts Open House to Public.

SOLANA BEACH, Calif. -- The City of Solana Beach Fire Department, located at 500 Lomas Santa Fe, will be holding its annual Open House on Saturday, October 30, 2004, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and welcomes all members of the public.

An invitation is being extended by the Fire Department to all those who would like to learn more about the services that are provided by the City's Fire Department, and the Lifeguard Service scheduled on the last Saturday of October 2004.

October is Fire Prevention Month and the Open House is an opportunity for the citizens to meet the firefighters and learn about fire safety and the additional public and life safety services that are provided by the Fire Department and the lifeguards.

Along with a tour of the fire station and fire engines, a demonstration will be provided on vehicle extrication and the safe use of fire extinguishers. A Fire Safety Trailer, Sparky the Fire Dog, and "KC" the Robot will also be available as educational tools for the kids, along with Exit Drill and Stop-Drop-and-Roll handouts. The Lifeguards will also be displaying their marine safety equipment, which keeps citizens safe at the beach. There will also be representatives from the Burn Institute, Trauma Intervention Program (TIPS), Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT), and San Diego Project Heartbeat (public access defibrillation).

Other efforts emphasized during Open House will be public education and outreach programs on: "Change Your Clock/Change Your Battery," Halloween Safety, and the Fire Department's Child Car Seat Safety Program, along with a number of other community service displays.
