City of San Jose Awards $4.7M Contract to Intergraph Public Safety Increasing Efficiency and Effectiveness in 9-1-1 Center; Advanced Technology to Manage Emergencies.

The City of San Jose, California has selected Intergraph Public Safety (IPS) (NASDAQ:INGR) implement a fully integrated, state-of-the art computer aided dispatch (CAD), mobile data computing (MDC), and automated vehicle location (AVL) solution. The contract award is valued at $4.7 million (US).

The City selected IPS based on the company's experience with systems of this size and similarity; the system's robust and easy-to-use mapping capabilities; the ability to accomplish the same function via mouse, function key, or by command line; and the fact that the IPS system is a true commercial, off-the-shelf (COTS) software solution.

Having a flexible, multi-jurisdictional, multi-agency system was also a major requirement for the San Jose Public Safety Communications Center, which combines both police and fire services, and handles all 9-1-1 emergency and 3-1-1 non-emergency calls. Located in Santa Clara County, San Jose is the third largest city in California with a population of 917,971. It is the 11th largest city in the United States.
