What: News conference to announce a private/public partnership to
enhance the safety of domestic violence victims
When: 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006
Where: In front of the police and fire stations in the 4200 block of
Eastgate Mall
Why: For all of 2005, there were five domestic violence-related
murders in the city of San Diego. There were six in 2004.
The goal is to have no domestic violence-related murders.
Verizon Wireless, the San Diego Family Justice Center, and
the San Diego Police and Fire-Rescue Departments (including
San Diego Lifeguards) will announce a campaign designed to
help reach that goal.
