 Director during the Clinton Administration.

The report is the outgrowth of the Emergency Preparedness Review Committee that was convened last January by Mayor Street to conduct a comprehensive review of the City of Philadelphia's state of planning and response and to offer specific recommendations for improvement. The Committee recognized the need for an outside consultant to help guide the process, and, after a competitive bid, chose JLWA - which served as a consulting project manager alongside the Committee's project manager. The resulting report, 175 pages long and including over 200 recommendations, can be viewed online at http://www.phila.gov.

Philadelphia is one of the few major U.S. cities to conduct such a comprehensive assessment of its emergency planning, despite the recognition among municipal and state governments of the need to proactively develop and enact emergency plans to ensure public safety, infrastructure reliability, and the continuity of government.

James Lee Witt Associates has the expertise to provide and implement best practices to ensure public safety and business continuity in the event of a natural disaster or terrorism threat. The firm advises and develops plans on behalf of a number of government entities, including responsibility for Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts for the State of Louisiana and helping create the disaster response plan to help the Cayman Islands recover from Hurricane Ivan. The company also works with Orange County and Collier County in Florida, as well as universities, hospitals, governments, and a variety of Fortune 500 companies, including those in the insurance, transportation, entertainment, finance, utilities, and emergency management industries.
