Embarking on a landmark initiative to change the way its staff approach their work, The City of Norfolk, Virginia Norfolk is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the United States of America. The City of Norfolk, with 4,000 staff and an $800 million budget, has over 3,000 paper forms, ranging from parking permits to pet licenses. The city initially purchased e-Work to help trim costs during a budget shortfall by automating its processes. However, using the software to examine and streamline processes before automating them is expected to generate even more cost savings.

"A lot of our problems can be resolved by better processes, and e-Work will help us by enlisting a team of experts - our employees - to search out opportunities for improvement," states Hap Cluff, director of the IT department for the municipality MUNICIPALITY. By implementing e-Work solutions on an enterprise level, Norfolk will provide workers the opportunity to design new automated processes to replace existing paper ones, or to create entirely new ones that were previously unavailable with the old system. The City's IT team will support the employee process design initiative by integrating them with databases and other legacy systems.
